The HFL FungiCheck is a major breakthrough in diagnosing dermatophytes in nails. It is an easy test that you can apply in the familiar environment of your own practice in 10 minutes, resulting in a reliable and accurate result. Simply by taking a nail sample, placing it in the test tube, adding a little extraction liquid and then stirring. After this, place the test strip in the tube which will then display the indication by two coloured stripes.
Integrate the FungiCheck as a routine in your practice to provide the highest standard of care through correct diagnosis. You will thereby take your practice and care to the next level.
Introducing the FungiCheck is especially appropriate for new clients reporting with nail abnormalities or trauma. Remember that about 50% of all clients who report with a trauma nail have a fungal infection and 50% do not. (3) So when you consult with your client, it is very important to highlight this. After all, this will enable you to formulate the best treatment plan and that requires a test.
Not to mention that you are otherwise guessing a diagnosis. Also knowing that research has shown that 1 in 3 visual nail fungus diagnoses, are incorrect. (2, 5)
Time
The current methods performed through the laboratory are the microscopic method, the PCR or the culture method. Nail samples are sent via the pedicure, GP or dermatologist. The microscopic method requires knowledge and experience in the profession and here it appears that some fungi are overlooked. These methods have a success rate of 50%-73%.(7-8) Both methods take some time because it is done externally in a laboratory.
Course
Some methods require a course and you have to keep repeating them often. With the FungiCheck, you do not need to take a course. You can use the clear
IFU find a manual and this also refers to protocols for sterile handling, should you wish to check this. Furthermore, as a professional, you are also sure to be familiar with hygienic handling in practice. You can also always attend a free training course!
Cost
Current methods are often pricey because they require external knowledge and experience from a laboratory. Here are two examples: Submit via laboratory between €35 and €75 per test excluding recovery of costs incurred and sample collection from the client.
At the GP/dermatologist, the costs are between €35 and €65. Both are covered by the deductible.
Medicine
Unlike traditional methods, the FungiCheck test kit can also be used on clients who are already using an antifungal medication or product. So even if your client is already using a product or medication, you can still perform the test. If the test is negative, you will have a good basis for deciding whether or not to refer your client to their GP. This means that your client does not have to stop taking certain medication or treatment for onychomycosis.
